Refers to a method of inventory valuation that assumes that the most recent products that enter the warehouse are the first to leave, so their cost is the one that is recorded in the income statement. In times of inflation, the LIFO method results in undervalued inventories, producing less operating profits than other methods like FIFO, although more than NIFO.
